April 1st marked the universal deadline for students to receive decision letters from colleges. However, many students face difficulty in completing their applications. According to CBS News, one out of every four teenagers submit seven or more college applications. This is challenging for students because not all colleges use the Common Application, so multiple essays are often required.
“The most difficult part of the college application process for many students is identifying the schools that will provide the best academic, financial and social fit for a particular individual,” said College Admissions Director Dr. Bob Iden.
“One of the biggest challenges that my seniors face when filling out college applications is getting together all of the information that is important to their resume,” explained Senior Counselor Mrs. Michelle Perkus. “Specifically, the essay poses as a challenge for students.”
Despite the many obstacles that seniors face when applying to colleges, the BL counselors are available to help seniors with their applications.
“Counselors are always available to write recommendation letters,” said Mrs. Perkus. “We are also here to be supportive and remind students of their bright future regardless of what college they attend.”
“My counselors were very helpful throughout the application process,” said senior Jose Castillo. “They checked on me weekly and made sure that I picked the right college for me.”
May 1st is the deadline for all seniors to accept their admission to the college of their choice. The BL counselors and teachers wish the seniors the best of luck in their college experiences and future endeavors.
