On March 14, 2016, Bishop Lynch named former NFL player Chuck Faucette head football coach. A seasoned coach, Faucette has held three head football coach positions and several assistant coaching positions at professional levels. Faucette was a former linebacker for the University of Maryland and currently ranks third on the all-time tackling list. In addition, Faucette played two seasons with the San Diego Chargers. He and his wife, Peggy Ann, have four daughters and four grandchildren.
“I am excited and honored to be a part of the Bishop Lynch community,” said Faucette. “I am very familiar with the rich tradition of the Friar Football program and the passion of the BL community. I am very eager to jump right in and continue on that legacy of excellence.”
BL President Chris Rebuck and Athletic Director Andy Zihlman are excited to welcome Chuck Faucette into the BL community.
“It was critical to identify a person who would focus on a specific, defined process of developing football teams on and off the playing field,” explained Mr. Rebuck. “Coach Faucette has shown a gift for developing his players as strong athletes and exceptional people. He is a compelling leader and communicator and will be a tremendous role model for these young men and our BL community as a whole.”
“Chuck comes to BL with a wide range of experience,” said Zihlman. “His playing and coaching background, knowledge for the game and overall reputation lends to a great fit for Bishop Lynch Football and the community.”
In addition, the players look forward to working with Coach Faucette.
“I look forward to working with someone of his talent and experience,” said sophomore Matthew Regner. “I know that the entire program will benefit from this opportunity, and we hope to win the next state championship with his guidance.”
