The Blackfriars Guild is celebrating their 52nd anniversary by performing the play Lo and Behold. The show opened on Thursday, April 20 and concludes on Friday, April 29. Tickets are available online, during all lunches and at the door. Each ticket costs $10.
“When the play starts,” explained Director Mr. John Athas, “the main character, Milo, is looking over his will with his lawyer because he is very ill and does not know how much longer he is going to live.”
The cast has worked hard over the past three months in order to master their characters in time for the show.
“Milo is definitely the antagonistic figure in the play,” said junior Xander Hancock. “He has very old-fashioned beliefs and stands firm to what he thinks is right.”
“The character I play is a ghost who was shot and killed on her wedding day,” said junior McKenna Curtis. “She is from the South, so many of the other characters classify her as a mild racist. However, she means well and has a very good heart.”
Mr. Athas and the cast are excited for students and teachers to attend the show.
“What excites me about doing plays at Bishop Lynch is I am always able to find great actors to match the plays that I choose,” said Mr. Athas. “The Blackbox plays are a great way for students to further develop their literary skills because the theatre is a place that forces people to consider ideas that they normally do not think about.”
“There is a lot of humor in this play,” explained Hancock, “which makes it fun to perform and enjoyable for the audience to watch.”
