The tradition of the angel tree has been a major part of BL’s Christmas preparations since the beginning of BL Ambassadors. The angel tree is placed in the bistro every year, and students can pick an “angel” off the tree with a child’s name and preferred gift written on it. This year, 57 percent of American families reported not being able to afford proper Christmas gifts and meals for their loved ones. BL recognizes the importance of giving to others, which is why the BL Ambassadors host this event each year. Every student who participated in this event bought a gift for his/her child in need and turned it in to Mrs. Kelly by Wednesday, Dec. 9. More 100 students participated in this long-standing tradition hosted by the BL Ambassadors.
“All the gifts go to Catholic charities to support children in need and add joy to their Christmas,” said Admissions Administrative Assistant Mrs. Marguerite Kelly. “We need to recognize that BL students are very fortunate and can give to those who do not have the necessities that we do.”
The BL Ambassadors worked strenuously to organize the angel tree event and sold angels at all lunches last week.
“I think the angel tree is important because we are very blessed at BL and are taught to share our blessings with the less fortunate,” said BL Ambassador Kate Lacina.
