Bishop Lynch High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Chad Riley, Ph.D. to the position of Principal, effective July 1, 2017. Dr. Riley succeeds Mrs. Evelyn Grubbs, who will retire in June after 24 years of service at Bishop Lynch.

After an extensive search both locally and nationally, Dr. Riley comes to the BL community from St. Joseph Catholic School (Diocese of Fort Worth), where he currently serves as Principal. Riley brings many gifts and talents to the BLHS community, including significant leadership experience in Catholic schools, a deep commitment to Catholic education and an understanding of 21st Century education. Riley’s knowledge of the latest curriculum, as well as his forward-looking philosophy, will ensure that Bishop Lynch High School remains innovative and a leader in education. His contagious energy and enthusiasm will engage parents and students alike, and his faith in Christ will serve as the foundation and driver of it all.

“My family and I are both humbled and excited to join the Bishop Lynch High School community,” said Riley. “The history and tradition of the school reflect the dedicated commitment of many people to its profound mission. The community’s commitment to growth in faith and excellence in learning will propel the school forward. I am thrilled to be a part of the school’s next steps in its journey!”

Bishop Lynch President Chris Rebuck shares his excitement regarding this announcement saying, “Chad has exemplified mission driven, servant-leadership in his past experiences. I am excited that he will be adding to the legacy of leadership that has perpetuated Bishop Lynch towards greater levels of excellence.”

Dr. Riley grew up in Denison, just northeast of the Dallas Metroplex. He attended the University of Dallas, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1994, and later completed his Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies at the University of St. Thomas in Houston. In 2015, Riley earned his Ph.D. in K-16 Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.

At the start of his career in education, Riley taught World History and Latin at his high school alma mater. He then accepted a teaching job at Barnett Junior High School in Arlington, yet felt the need to continue his calling in a school where faith was at the center alongside education. He later joined the faculty at Holy Rosary Catholic School, also in Arlington, teaching 6th-8th grade.

After completing his Certificate in Catholic School Leadership at the University of Dallas in 2005, Riley sought an opportunity to move into administration and was offered the Principal position at Sacred Heart Catholic School, in Muenster, TX – a Pre-K through 12th grade Catholic school. Having administrative experience at both the elementary and high school levels, Riley’s path found him back at St. Joseph Catholic School in 2009 (formerly Holy Rosary Catholic School) where he has served as principal for the past seven years.

Riley and his wife Caryn have four children Brendan, Anna, Ellie and Jack. The family is looking forward to taking this next step together and joining the Friar community stating, “This season of Easter joy is an appropriate time for my family and me to discern this change in our lives. In faith and hope, we are confident in the Lord’s goodness and love that has led us to this next step in our family’s journey.”

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Riley to the Bishop Lynch community!
