On what seemed to be an average Friday morning, the Lady Friar Basketball team was called to President Rebuck’s office during first period today. Giddy with excitement thinking they were there for a congratulatory “high five” for just winning state, the mood took a powerful turn when Mr. Rebuck received a surprise phone call from the Texas State Capitol.
Joined by her parents, brother (Austin ’20), grandmother, President Chris Rebuck, Basketball Coach Andy Zihlman, Assistant Coaches Delaine Taylor, Michele Longoria, Nikki Nester and Paul Gardner and the rest of the 2017 State Champion Lady Friar Basketball team, emotions ran high as Congressman Pete Sessions delivered senior Rhiannon Townsend an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado for the fall of 2017.
